According to the United Nations, 1 in 10 of the world’s 1.8 billion children live in conflict zones and 24 million young people are out of school. Political instability, labour market challenges and limited space for political and civic participation have led to increasing isolation of youth in societies.
The 12th of August marks International Youth Day, serving as an annual celebration of young men and women as essential partners in change as well as a vital opportunity to raise awareness of the vulnerability and challenges faced by young people today.
In recognition of the responsibility we all hold to protect young people, we have selected our Safeguarding Children course as August’s Module of the Month.
Safeguarding children involves promoting their welfare by ensuring they grow up in circumstances where their health, development and wellbeing aren’t impaired, as well as taking action to protect them from harm.
By the end of the module, you’ll be able to recognise signs of abuse, respond to and record disclosures, know how to report a concern and understand how legislation affects policies and procedures.
